MICROBLADING FAQ'S
How long do the Microblading results last?
This varies from person to person as everybody's skin is different and retention of pigment therefore varies, but on average 18 months. However, a colour refresh is recommended on average every 6 months or if your brows retain particularly well, 9-12 months. This keeps the brows fresh and full looking and refreshes any faded pigment. If you choose not to do this then they will just fade off naturally. No nasty staining.
What is the minimum age?
This is treated in a similar way to a tattoo, you must be 18 years or over.
How much is Microblading?
Please see the Microblading page for more information.
How much are the Microblading top ups?
Please see the Microblading page for more information
How long does the Microblading procedure take?
The procedure is split into 2 appointments which are 4-6 weeks apart to allow for the healing process to complete. The initial procedure (foundation brow) will take around 90 minutes, and your second perfection appointment takes around 60 minutes. This is where the brow's thickness can be added to and colour darkened if required.
Occasionally a third session is required - please see the pricing information on the Microblading page for more info on this.
Does the application hurt?
An anaesthetic is used, this is a topical numbing cream. This is topped up regularly during the treatment to keep you comfortable. Microblading is an invasive treatment and therefore a scratching sensation may be felt.
Can I have this treatment if I am pregnant?
Although there is no research to suggest this procedure would be detrimental, unfortunately you cannot have this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can I have this treatment if I am receiving Chemotherapy?
No, unfortunately due to you being at higher risk of infection, this treatment is not covered under insurance.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes, for insurance reasons all clients need a prick test at least 48 hours before the procedure. If you don't feel that you need a consultation you can request a patch test to be sent via post and book straight in for your first session of Microblading. Any design of the brow is not undertaken during the consultation anyway. This is carried out at your first Microblading session.
What can I expect from the consultation?
During your initial consultation Chelle will learn of your brow issues, go through Microblading in more detail and perform a patch test. She will also be able to answer any further questions that may not be covered on this FAQs section. You do not necessarily need the consultation and can request a patch test via post, but it is there for you should you wish to have one.
What can I expect on the day of the treatment?
Please arrive promptly to the first procedure. Chelle works with a full diary on a day to day basis so please keep this in mind when booking and check your journey time/plan your visit well in advance. Chelle cannot guarantee to see you if you are running late because she will more than likely have somebody else booked in after your slot.
Chelle will spend time learning about your brows and marking out and creating your new brow. With you, she will review the brow she designs and check you are happy. Once the design has been agreed you will be given the topical numbing product. Whilst this is taking effect (15-20 minutes), Chelle will go through colour choices with you and mix a bespoke shade if needs be. Chelle will then start on the brow design.
Chelle will provide you with an Aftercare info pack with everything you need to know. Any redness will go down over the following hour (no down time).
How is a colour chosen?
Chelle has been trained to the highest level in colour theory and will devise a bespoke brow suited to yourself.
Can I pay by instalments?
Yes, you can either pay the full amount of £320 at session 1, or £160 at your first session and then the remaining £160 at your top up session which is 4-6 weeks later.
How can I pay?
Payment can be made via bank transfer, cash or via Paypal. Please ask Chelle's admin team when booking for details if you are choosing not to bring cash. Payment must be made prior to or during the appointment, Chelle will check in with you on this just before starting the treatment.
How do I get to you via public transport?
Please note Chelle has chosen to provide her brow services in a private home studio and not a busy Central salon to ensure you receive a private and personal service. This includes ample free parking availability. Chelle's admin team will provide you with the full address when booking but the premises are easily accessible via a Coastal number 12 bus taken from the bottom of North Street in Central Brighton. It's extremely simple to get to the premises. Chelle's admin team can also provide you with a map if needs be, although most clients use google maps when first visiting.
AFTERCARE
-
The strokes may 'disappear' before the top up session, this is completely normal and most will show up once more in time for the second session. You may worry you are rejecting the pigment, this is completely normal - don't panic.
-
The colour is up to 50% darker straight after the treatment. It will fade after 4-7 days and the true colour will not come through until up to 4 weeks after initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared or appear patchy, as it is obscured by the healing skin. This is normal and it will return.
-
Additional treatments cannot be undertaken until the area has completely healed. A 4 week healing time is required before any more work can be undertaken.
-
When showering within 72 hours please try and avoid the water jets hitting the treated area.
-
Try to avoid the gym, sauna or pool for 72 hours.
-
Once the area has healed completely, approximately one week, consider using a waterproof total sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the colour fading.
-
Strong chemicals or glycolic acid/peels of any kind may cause the pigment to lighten.
-
Do not pick or pull at the treated area as it will result in pigment loss. You will go through three healing phases: 1-heal, 2-peel and 3-fade. This is where the second session is extremely important - it reinforces the pigment.
-
We recommend dry healing. If you wish to apply make-up we suggest you purchase new products to avoid cross infection/contamination.
-
Giving Blood - The Red Cross have suggested that you do not give blood for 6 months following treatment.
