What are Fat Dissolving Injections?

Intralipotherapy is a popular, quick and effective treatment for those pesky problem pockets of fat that no matter what you try, just won't budge. These pockets may gather on your stomach, thighs, upper arms, buttocks, back and under the chin.

The injections 'dissolve' and eliminate fat cells in a safe and effective way. This makes intralipotherapy perfect for targeting those stubborn areas.

How does the treatment work?

For those that want to know the science behind it, the main ingredient is a fat dissolving agent called sodium deoxycholate, which is found naturally in the body already. This solution is injected into the target areas and destroys the fat cells it comes into contact with. These are then excreted naturally via your body's lymphatic system.

When do I see results and how long do they last?

The sodium deoxycholate works at a slow and leisurely pace so results are best seen around 4 weeks later, but just like that, the fat cells are gone.

Unless you gain weight and create new fat cells in the same area, the fat cells that have been destroyed will be gone for good. That is music to our ears.

How many sessions will I need?

Depending on the size of the areas we are targeting, 2-4 sessions are the most common. These are to be taken at 6 week intervals. If this treatment is being utilised as holiday or wedding prep, then I advise starting 6 months before so you have plenty of time.

Sessions last between 15 minutes and 45 minutes depending on the area we are targeting, this includes the numbing of the area too.

Are there any side effects?

Intralipotherapy works because it causes an inflammatory response which is vital to destroy and burst those fat cells. This means you may have slight swelling post treatment in the areas we have targeted, which is likely unnoticeable. If treating under the chin area it's advisable to book this treatment when you don't have any events immediately after in case you are slightly puffy.

As with any injections, minor bruising is possible, so please also keep this in mind when booking the 'new you'.
